Our client, a well-established school based in Kwale County is seeking an Accountant to oversee financial management and institutional operations.
The ideal candidate will be responsible for handling financial transactions, maintaining accurate records, and ensuring compliance with accounting regulations. The role also involves managing institutional matters, including staff coordination and administrative functions across different departments. The accountant will work closely with the Headteacher and Management to support the growth and sustainability of the school.
Key Responsibilities:
- Research, analyze, and prepare financial reports, including balance sheets and profit & loss statements, while ensuring compliance and financial accuracy.
- Prepare accounts, tax returns, and maintain audit-ready financial records using QuickBooks and MS Office.
- Ensure proper maintenance of organizational properties and oversee accurate record-keeping.
- Handle all institutional matters, including staff issues and overseeing various departments (farm, housemothers, drivers, security, and school-related matters).
- Work with the Headteacher to address specific school requirements and ensure smooth academic operations.
- Manage school-related items for the children’s home and facilitate communication with different schools.
- Step in for Management when required, stay available for urgent institutional needs, and efficiently handle multiple responsibilities as needed.
Qualifications & Skills:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Strong leadership and management skills.
- Expertise in financial management, accounting, and reporting.
- Experience in institutional administration and operations.
- Proficiency in QuickBooks and MS Office.
- Ability to multitask and handle diverse responsibilities effectively.
