Business Integrity Officer for an International NGO – Kenya

Our client, an International NGO, is looking for a for their offices in Kenya. The successful candidate will work alongside all members of the Legal & Business Integrity Team to implement the client’s business integrity function. The business integrity function is responsible for corporate governance and managing the financial crime and data protection risks to the business. He/She will be reporting to the General Counsel & Head of Business Integrity, supporting the Business Integrity & Risk Manager, working across all projects in all infrastructure sectors (power, water, transport, etc.) and all Sub-Saharan Africa countries. He/she will take responsibility for driving and embedding business integrity best practice across the company.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist with reviewing projects and investments’ corporate governance and policies
  • Undertake ongoing due diligence and assist with investigations and follow up actions when problems arise
  • Assist with drafting business integrity training to projects and investments
  • Assist with the appointment of personnel to SPV boards and the issuance of shares
  • Assist with reviewing and evaluating company adherence to the company policies and business integrity
  • Assist with the preparation of internal reporting (monthly, quarterly, annually and ad hoc) including assisting with the drafting
  • Assist with the Business Integrity Team’s planning, implementing and overseeing risk-related programmes (including but not limited to bribery, modern slavery, forced and child labour, other reputational issues, tax evasion and data protection);
  • Assist with activities to ensure the continued approval of ISO 37001 certification and other certifications the client may achieve
  • Assist with company secretarial requirements (including preparation of minutes and resolutions, issuance of shares, Companies House filing, etc.)

Qualifications

  • Have a degree (a law degree is preferred but not essential)
  • At least 2 years or more experience in Business Integrity/Compliance
  • Conversant with KYC processes
  • An eye for detail, strong organisational skills and able to take responsibility for own workload
  • Excellent written and spoken communication skills
  • Good IT skills
  • Must be a team player, willing to help out wherever needed
  • English as the main spoken and written language
  • French language skills (desirable but not necessary).
