Our client, an international company investing in an 80 MW power project in Rwanda, is looking forfor their offices in Kigali, Rwanda. The successful candidate will be responsible for all company financial legal compliance in Rwanda, as well as the the full financial reporting and accountability to Shareholders, Lenders and Stakeholders. He/She will lead the financial strategy and operational aspects while confidently engaging with government officials.
Key Responsibilties
- Develop and execute financial strategies aligned with the operational objectives of the power plant in Kigali.
- Oversee the day-to-day financial activities, ensuring accurate accounting, budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting.
- Establish and maintain strong relationships with governmental bodies, including relevant ministries, regulatory agencies, and local authorities, advocating for the plant’s interests and ensuring compliance with regulations and policies.
- Provide strategic financial guidance to the executive team, supporting decision-making processes and identifying opportunities for operational enhancement and cost efficiency.
- Lead the financial risk management efforts, identifying and mitigating financial risks associated with operations and market conditions.
- Manage financial compliance matters, including tax obligations, reporting requirements, and statutory filings.
- Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to optimize operational efficiencies and streamline financial processes.
- Mentor and lead a team of finance professionals, fostering a high-performance culture and ensuring their alignment with the plant’s goals and values.
Skills/Qualifications:
- A bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, economics, or a related field; an MBA or relevant advanced degree is a plus.
- ACCA or CPA(K) accreditation
- Proven experience of 10+ years in a senior financial leadership role, preferably within the energy or utilities sector, demonstrating a solid understanding of operational finance.
- Strong financial acumen, analytical skills, and the ability to translate financial data into strategic insights.
- Exceptional communication and negotiation skills with the ability to engage and influence government officials and regulatory bodies effectively.
- A track record of managing complex financial operations, including budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis.
- Experience working in a multicultural environment and the ability to navigate diverse stakeholder relationships effectively.
- Ability to work with auditors and produce expedient annual audits.
- Ability to oversee financial and supply teams, spot report and help eliminate corruption loss.
- Proven experience working directly with Government entities like EUCL, REG and RRA.
- Experience with SAGE preferred
