Commercial Sales Manager for a Safari company to be based in Nairobi

Our client, an International Safari company is looking for a hands on andAs the Commercial Sales Manager, you will play a pivotal role in developing and executing strategic initiatives to maximise sales, revenue and market share.  You will lead a team of dedicated sales consultants, identify sales gaps and opportunities, and implement effective strategies to ensure business growth.  The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills (particularly in the management and leadership of remote teams), a strategic mindset, and a deep understanding of the tourism industry.

Duties        

  • Provide strong leadership to the sales team, fostering a collaborative and high-performance culture.
  • Recruit, train and mentor sales consultants to enhance their skills and capabilities.
  • Set clear performance targets and provide regular feedback to ensure individual and team success.
  • Distribute enquiries to the team, support consultants with quoting, itinerary design and questions, and ensure out of hours / off duty team availability
  • Responsible for assigning new agents to consultants.
  • Manage and drive sales performance with specific focus on sales targets and conversion, turnaround time and overall customer experience.
  • Assist with the maintenance of agent relationships
  • In partnership with other unit Sales Managers, conduct and manage regular sales meetings.
  • Develop and implement effective sales strategies to achieve revenue goals and market expansion.
  • Identify key market trends, customer needs, and competitive landscape to inform strategic decision-making.
  • Collaborate with the marketing team to align sales strategies with overall brand positioning.
  • Implement and utilize business intelligence tools to gather and analyse relevant data.
  • Stay informed about industry trends, competitors, and market dynamics to make informed strategic decisions.
  • Monitor and analyse revenue performance, identify areas for improvement and implementing corrective actions.

Requirements

  • Minimum 15 years experience in the broader industry sector (hospitality & tourism).
  • Proven track record of success in sales management, particularly in the tourism or hospitality industry.
  • Strong leadership and team management skills with the ability to inspire and motivate a sales team.
  • Excellent communication skills and a responsible go-to person.
  • Proactive mindset, and the ability to organize, motivate and encourage a team.
  • Ability and willingness to lead by example and find commercial solutions to problems.
  • Sharp commercial awareness, aligned with international sales requirements and expectations.
  • Ability to find commercial solutions to problems.
  • Strong administration and organizational skills with great attention to detail.
  • Ability to work well under pressure.
  • A service delivery mindset and a strong customer service focus.
  • Experience in delivering results in a performance-oriented and fast-paced sales environment.
  • Experience in and willingness to handle issues outside of office hours when required.
