Our client, a distinguished and trusted leader in East Africa’s electric motor and rotating equipment repair industry, is looking for a proactive and versatile Electrical Mechanic.

The successful candidate will be responsible for disassembly / assembly of basic AC motors. Measuring tolerances of bearing housing and shaft journals, greasing, tapping and torquing of bolts.

Key Responsibilities

Disassemble and assemble basic AC motors, alternators, refrigeration compressors, and pumps with precision and care.
Perform rotor removal, bearing assembly, and measurement of tolerances to ensure optimal functioning.
Execute greasing, tapping, torquing of bolts, and checking shaft run out using appropriate tools.
Collaborate with team members to troubleshoot and address technical challenges efficiently.
Perform preventive maintenance on electric motors, alternators, refrigeration compressors, and pumps.
Identify and resolve mechanical and electrical faults to ensure optimal performance.
Execute repairs and replacements of faulty components with precision and expertise.
Maintain detailed records of maintenance activities, repairs, and part replacements.
Generate comprehensive reports on equipment condition, performance, and recommended actions.

Qualifications

Must have a relevant bachelor’s Diploma or degree in Engineering or a Similar discipline
Must have a Minimum 3 years working in a similar role
Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail in recording measurements and maintenance activities.
Strong teamwork and collaboration abilities to work effectively with colleagues and superiors.
Problem-solving skills to diagnose issues accurately and implement appropriate solutions.
Previous experience in industries such as sugar and cement milling, power generation, or steel fabrication workshops is advantageous.
Transferable skills from automotive mechanics or lathe technicians are highly beneficial.
