Financial Controller – Nairobi, Kenya

Our client, a high-end Furniture and Home Décor items in Nairobi, Kenya is looking for a qualified and Experienced Financial Controller to be based in Nairobi who will oversee statutory account and Human Resource duties for the company. He will be responsible for developing Financial wellbeing of the company by providing leadership in all Financial, Accounting and Human Resource Aspects. Experience working in a Furniture Company would be an added advantage.

Key responsibilities:
• Develop Financial Strategies by forecasting capital, facilities and Staff requirements
• Contributing financial and accounting information, analysis and recommendations
• Develop Prospects by studying economic trends and revenue opportunities, projecting acquisition and expansion prospects, analyzing each company operations and identifying opportunities for improvement
• Monitor financial performance by measuring and analyzing results; initiating corrective actions; minimizing the impact of variance
• Report and advice the managing director on the financial strategy and progress of the same periodically
• Ensure detailed review of the Company’s financial report on weekly monthly, quarterly, annual or as required
• Have in place an adequate internal controls process to reduce risk of fraud and mis-management of assets
• Develop all budget for the company and ensure implementation
• Maximize return on invested funds by identifying investment opportunities
• Manage Cashflow by tracking transactions and regularly reviewing internal reports
• Review all payments as payment runs in detail to ensure properly authorized and consistent with cashflow management
• Responsible for weekly cash management
• Review all payrolls and payroll related items
• Support with day to day banking relationships
• Ensure annual tax audits and returns are performed on time
• Ensure compliance with tax and other regulatory requirements
• Responsible for all KPIs of all finance staff
• Build cohesion and encourage positive engagement with all other departments
• Be responsible for all financial data
• Ensure the security of financial information and data
• Building and maintaining relationships with external partners that relate to the organization including accounting and Finance

• Relevant degree in Accounting/ Business related field/ Master’s is an added advantage
• Must have a minimum experience of 10 years proven and sound hands on experience in combined Accounting and Finance in Senior Management role
• Must be a CPA (K) / ACCA Finalist
• Must have experience in Importing and Clearance Procedures
• Must be efficient in Cash Flow Management
• Thorough knowledge of Accounting principles and procedures
• Experience with creating Financial Statements and General Ledger functions and the moth end/year end close process
• Excellent accounting software user and administration skills
