General Manager – Nairobi, Kenya

Our client is a well funded and organised orphanage, looking for a well-rounded general manager to take over the general day to day running of the orphanage.  The successful candidate must have experience in educational management, fund raising and be able to communicate clearly.  A Bachelor’s Degree in Business Management or equivalent is required.

Key Requirements:

  • Be responsible for personnel planning and deployment as well as the coordination and assignment of tasks.
  • Have a good sense of economic, organisational, and educational management of the orphanage.
  • Ensure compliance with quality standards, hygiene, and accident prevention regulations.
  • Ensure responsible cost management, with business thinking, in cooperation with the donors.
  • Actively engage in conceptual considerations and ensure their implementation.
    Possess a high sense of responsibility for the children entrusted to the orphanage and ensure cooperation with the childcare office.
  • Exchange with local partners and develop sustainable co-operation.
    Help with fundraising. 

Qualifications:

  • The successful candidate will have completed a degree in business administration, education, social economy or a related subject.
  • Have already gained several years of professional and personnel management experience in the orphanage area.
  • Will require an independent, result-oriented and structured way of working.
    Have at least 5 years of leadership experience.
  • Show distinctive social skills, commitment and pleasure in dealing with people.
  • Good MS Office skills are required.
  • A good knowledge about accounting is required.
  • Have a confidence negotiating and have assertiveness.
  • An aptitude for entrepreneurial thinking is a bonus.
