Our client, a Kenyan Agricultural company – committed to sustainable farming practices, community development, and environmental stewardship is looking for Head of Engineering & Stores for their office in Makuyu.

The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing effective management of the engineering, maintenance, stores and procurement functions within the Company. The role involves providing leadership of the team to ensure timely and cost-effective planning and coordination of multiple engineering projects. The ideal candidate will play a key role in researching and developing innovative Engineering solutions and be responsible for creating project budgets and overseeing their successful execution throughout the year.

Key Responsibilities

  • Participate in the strategic decision making of the Company by providing appropriate Engineering related inputs.
  • Manage and coordinate all Engineering/ Maintenance activities across the Company
  • Oversee vehicle/tractor maintenance programs
  • Oversee water supply and irrigation activities
  • Ensure projects are completed on time, within budget, and to required quality standards.
  • Manage project risks and issues, ensuring appropriate mitigation plans are in place
  • Manage and coordinate the work of consulting Engineers and contractors
  • Assist the Company divisions in drawing up the requirements for capital budgets
  • Manage purchase of machines, equipment and materials
  • Prepare and manage engineering budgets.
  • Oversee company central stores activities ensure consistency and compliance with company policies and procedure
  • Oversees the procurement function to ensure consistency, efficiency, cost effectiveness and compliance with Company policies and procedures
  • Foster a collaborative and high-performance team culture among your staff.
  • Prepare divisional monthly reports
  • Manage relationships with external partners, suppliers, and contractors.
  • Liaise with regulatory authorities in all Engineering related areas
  • Oversee the survey and mapping function of the Company.
  • To be the custodian of employees Health and Safety at the Engineering division

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering , preferably Civil or Mechanical
  • A member of relevant professional Engineering body
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in Civil/Mechanical/Irrigation Engineering
  • Proven experience in managing Stores and procurement function as well as financial management, including budgeting
  • Proven experience in Engineering Drawings
  • Excellent Analytical and Organizational skills
  • Strong Interpersonal and communication skills
  • Strong Leadership and Project Management skills
