Our client, a prestigious conservancy located on the outskirts of Nanyuki, is seeking a proactive Maintenance Supervisor in a Hotel.

The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing all maintenance projects at the Main House and Rock House, ensuring the highest standards of service for the guests. Reporting to the Maintenance Manager, the Maintenance Supervisor will take a hands-on approach in coordinating maintenance activities, solving technical issues, and collaborating with the heads of departments (HODs). The ideal candidate must have a minimum of 4 years’ experience in a maintenance supervisory role in the hospitality industry.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Identify maintenance needs proactively through preventive maintenance and develop efficient plans for repairs and projects.
  • Collaborate with the HOD team to schedule maintenance work around guest activities and visits.
  • Implement maintenance projects at Main House and Rock House, ensuring quality control through regular inspections.
  • Work closely with the Quality Assurance Manager to address maintenance requirements.
  • Ensure that all equipment is properly maintained, functional, and well inventoried.
  • Prepare cost estimates and quotations for maintenance projects as necessary.
  • Ensure compliance with occupational health and safety requirements and use of personal protective equipment (PPE) for all maintenance tasks.
  • Monitor and manage operational costs while promoting sustainability and environmentally friendly practices in workshop operations.
  • Foster a positive and motivating environment for the team, focusing on training, development, and empowerment to encourage excellent performance.
  • Provide immediate feedback during training sessions and conduct performance development reviews for team members.
  • Participate in the recruitment process as needed and assist with team leave scheduling.
  • Lead special projects across departments as requested by the Maintenance Manager or CEO.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Must have a Bachelor’s degree or Advanced Diploma in Engineering, Facility Management, or related field.
  • Must have a minimum of 4 years’ experience in a maintenance supervisory role in the hospitality industry.
  • Must have In-depth knowledge of electrical, mechanical, plumbing, masonry, and carpentry systems in the hospitality industry.
  • Strong planning and organizational skills with excellent leadership and role model qualities.
  • Demonstrated ability to build and maintain relationships across departments.
  • Proven problem-solving and analytical skills, with financial acumen.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English, including professional email writing.
  • Strong time management, confidentiality, and organizational skills.
