A well-established and reputable, dual-site Christian institution, with grades PP1 through Grade 9, is seeking to recruit a School Principal to be based in Nakuru.

The principal will be responsible for providing collaborative leadership, fostering a culture of learning, overseeing the day-to-day operations of the school, ensuring academic excellence, managing staff and resources, and fostering a safe, supportive, and inclusive environment for students and staff. The ideal candidate must have a proven track record of leadership in the education sector, strong interpersonal skills, and a passion for empowering both teachers and young minds.

Responsibilities:

  • Foster a positive and inclusive school culture that promotes academic excellence and holistic development.
  • Provide strategic and operational leadership to ensure the school’s mission, vision, and goals are achieved.
  • Prioritize serving the teaching staff by creating a collaborative and supportive work environment that mentors, guides and empowers teachers.
  • Resolve staff-related issues and implement performance improvement strategies as needed.
  • Collaborate with the teaching staff to support the development, implementation, and adaptation of curriculum materials. Facilitate discussions on potential modifications or substitutions of approved courses, ensuring the Directors are kept informed and engaged throughout the process.
  • Responsible for the preparation of timetables, class lists and schedules, and supervision schedules and be responsible for their functioning.
  • Hold regular staff meetings for the purpose of discussing educational and administrative matters.
  • Responsible for the proper registration and transfer of students in the school.
  • Liaise with government officials to maintain adherence to laws and regulations.
  • Develop and maintain effective communication with students, parents, staff, and the community to build positive relationships.
  • Monitor student performance, discipline, and well-being, ensuring a safe and nurturing environment for learning.
  • Manage the school’s financial, physical, and technological resources effectively and transparently with integrity.
  • Ability to draft education policy in cooperation with Human Resources department.  Ensure compliance with education policies, regulations, and safety standards.
  • Ensure that all reasonable precautions are taken to safeguard the health and general well-being of his staff and pupils of his school.

Qualifications:

  • A bachelor’s degree in education or a related field.
  • A member of the Teaching Service Commission.
  • Ability to teach two or more subjects.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in a leadership position within an educational institution, preferably as a school principal or assistant principal
  • Strong organizational, decision-making, and problem-solving skills.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Proven experience in financial management and resource optimization.
  • In-depth knowledge of education policies, curriculum standards, and best practices.
  • A collaborative leader with a strong commitment to the school’s mission and values.
