Our client, a Safari company with 4 properties in Kenya is looking for an experienced Supply Chain Manager. The successful candidate will act as a conduit between the operational team and the Purchasing team to ensure that there is optimal efficiency in the process and solid relationships with suppliers and all stakeholders. The ideal candidate for this position has experience in setting up a supply chain process in an environment where many factors are changing as well as an understanding of the Tourism Industry.
Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with purchasing team, concession team, camp managers and operations manager to determine best practices for freight movement to camp
- Identify and maintain the correct methods and pricing to transport freight to camp
- Establish relationships with suppliers for consistency of service and quality of products
- Negotiate and maintain competitive prices from selected suppliers
- Research and engage with new potential suppliers and test samples to compare quality and prices with existing suppliers.
- Deal with product returns and credits
- Develop a monitoring system to ensure effectiveness and efficiency of suppliers
- Ensure yearly fixed asset lists updated in conjunction with operations managers
- Improve on timelines from procurement to end user by identifying and implementing latest supply chain practices
- Establish and implement ordering schedule for goods
- Tracking of creditor payments & updating and manage supplier credit and payment terms
- Monitor and maintain security of all inventory movement in and out of camps and warehouse.
- Ensure receiving of goods in the store correct and on time
- Conduct performance appraisals of purchasing team twice annually
- Ensure working roster and work schedules in place and adhered to and that contracts and job descriptions are in place and developed accordingly for purchasing team
- Develop monthly targets for purchasing department
- Create and maintain safety work instructions in line with national Health and safety standards and company standard operating procedures
- Oversee the management of operational stock including, uniform, softs and décor, furniture and fittings, linen, kitchen ware.
Qualifications & Requirements:
- A Degree in Supply Chain Management or relevant qualification will be considered
- End-to-End SC knowledge, demand planning, procurement, transportation modes, warehouse/distribution capabilities, capabilities, logistics-related software applications, customer compliance programs, budget creation and management
- Must have 5– 10years experience in the supply chain function of any channel distribution industry; 7-10 years of leadership experience; experience with e-commerce, demand planning, procurement, transportation management both Trucks, air freight, and inventory planning
- Prove experience in a Customer Service function (customer order management), Finished Goods Inventory Management function (multiple locations), 3PL Management function, inbound and outbound Transportation/Logistics Management function, and Procurement & Supplier Management function. Excludes: Raw materials procurement and inventory management, and customer aftersales support function
- Proven ability to implement supply chain processes within the shortest time possible
- Hospitality/Camp sector experience, is an added advantage.
