Our client is a leading company in the chemical industry is looking to grow his existing team in DRC. The ideal candidate should have previous experience of a Business Development and Sales management role within the mining.
The right candidate should demonstrate knowledge of the local market and willingness to constantly travel on-site to meet prospective clients, should be highly motivated to succeed in his/her new role and constantly meet given target with a positive mindset.
Key Responsibilities:
- Sales Strategy and Planning: Develop and implement a comprehensive sales plan to identify and target prospective customers, ensuring the achievement of set sales targets.
- Client Relations and Sales: Solicit and secure forward purchase agreements and contracts for bulk mining chemicals and provide exceptional after-sales technical support to both new and existing clients.
- Market Analysis and Product Recommendations: Conduct market surveys to analyze prices, competitor activities, and industrial performance, and advise procurement/logistics on new product lines and cost-effective alternatives.
- Financial Management: Ensure the achievement of minimum gross profit and markup as per the business plan and manage the collection of debts according to the plan.
- Customer Service and Complaint Resolution: Address and resolve customer complaints promptly to their satisfaction, preventing escalation.
- Technical Support and Testing: Conduct at least six metallurgical tests per quarter on existing and new bulk chemicals and ensure the technical specifications and efficiency of the products.
- System and Safety Compliance: Update customer relations management systems, adhere to ISO practices, and ensure compliance with safety standards for handling and storing hazardous chemicals.

- Ensure products compatibility is observed in all the instances, staff members have appropriate protective clothing and transporters follows emergency guide on how to transport the hazardous chemicals and what they would need to do in case of a spillage.
- Check on adherence to the requirements of materials storage in accordance with the requirements contained in the respective material safety data sheets.
- Ensure that the existing team is well trained to handle existing hazardous substances register in the warehouse.
Key skills/Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in chemical or metallurgy engineering or related field. Sales and Marketing qualification will be an added advantage.
- Minimum of 5 years of relevant work experience in a similar position within relevant industry required.
- Strong market knowledge of the most consumed chemicals by mines in the democratic republic of Congo.
- Proficient in written and spoken English.
