Our client, a well-established distributor of specialty food ingredients is looking to recruit a Technical Sales Representative to maximize the profitable, effective and recurrent sales of the company’s range of specialty food ingredients within the designated sales territory/category to be based in Uganda. The successful candidate must have experience in the food and/or ingredient industry in customer facing roles with applied technical experience and proven knowledge of food formulation and solution provision.
- Develop a strong technical understanding of technologies, features, benefits & application of products.
- Manage a portfolio of customer accounts. Service, retain and grow them.
- Develop and maintain a healthy and well balanced project pipeline.
- Plan and execute effective and appropriate trials of the company’s solutions in customer facilities.
- Maintain a customer project database and work with the Regional Sales Manager to develop sales plans.
- Understand and recommend pricing requirements based on market trends and account specific knowledge.
- Develop extensive knowledge of category trends, technologies and applications.
- Actively participate in training and development programs in order to maximize market penetration.
- Consistently meet or exceed established sales targets.
- Represent the company and its principals with diligence, integrity and humility
- Update sales report daily / weekly / monthly.
- Liaise with the sales team for other product to maximize the cross selling.
- Bachelor’s degree in food science and Technology or a closely related field.
- Minimum 2 years’ experience in the food industry.
- Ingredient industry experience in customer-facing roles with applied technical experience preferred.
- Willingness and ability to travel extensively within the region.
- A Team player.

- Sense of urgency.
- Customer service skills.
- Proficient in relevant computer software.
- Knowledge of regulatory standards and compliance requirements.
