Kenya’s President Uhuru Kenyatta takes over as EAC chairman: President Uhuru Kenyatta has been elected as the Chairman of the East African Community (EAC). He succeeds Rwanda’s Paul Kagame. During the summit, Dr. Peter Mutuku Mathuki of Kenya was sworn in as the new EAC Secretary-General for a five-year non-renewable term effective April 25 2021. He succeeds Amb Libérat Mfumukeko of Burundi.
