Our client, a Foundation for a well known Hospital in Kenya, is seeking a Fundraising Manager for its operation in Kenya.
The Fundraising Manager will be responsible for establishing and leading the Foundation’s fundraising department, dedicated to supporting non-privileged children in Kenya through access to life-saving treatments such as cancer care, heart surgery, and pediatric health services. The successful candidate will develop and implement a comprehensive fundraising strategy, build and maintain strong relationships with donors, NGOs, and high-net-worth individuals (HNWIs), and prepare high-quality proposals to secure sustainable funding. The ideal candidate is a self-starter with a proven track record in fundraising, strong networking and communication skills, and a passion for improving children’s healthcare and wellbeing. The position may be based in Kenya or abroad.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement an effective fundraising strategy and action plan to achieve the Foundation’s financial targets.
- Collaborate with hospital leadership and departments to identify funding needs and align initiatives with organizational priorities.
- Oversee and coordinate all fundraising activities, including grants, corporate and individual giving, events, and volunteer-led initiatives.
- Identify, research, and manage a strong pipeline of local and international funding opportunities.
- Build and maintain relationships with donors, corporate partners, and other key fundraising stakeholders.
- Prepare and submit compelling funding and grant proposals, ensuring timely impact and financial reporting.
- Partner with the communications team to produce materials that support donor engagement and fundraising campaigns.
- Lead, mentor, and develop the fundraising team while managing annual budgets and driving sustainable growth of the function.
Key Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field; formal training in fundraising is an added advantage.
- Proven experience in grant writing and developing innovative local and international fundraising strategies.
- Strong organizational, planning, and coordination skills with the ability to meet deadlines.
- Excellent communication, networking, and relationship-building skills with diverse stakeholders.
- Results-oriented, proactive, and tenacious in following up on leads and prospects.
- Self-starter who can work independently while maintaining a collaborative approach.
- Passionate about the Foundation’s mission and knowledgeable about the health sector; financial literacy is an advantage.
- Flexible, adaptable, and able to thrive in a dynamic environment.
