Senior Technical Manager – Nairobi, Kenya

Our client, a floriculture trading Company based in Nairobi is seeking to recruit a who will be responsible in leading technical function, ensuring the company acts as a support service to growers, representing the technical function internally and acting as a brand ambassador with our customers and growers. The ideal candidate Must have experience in the Floriculture sector.

Key Requirements:

  • Review and maintenance of the Company Postharvest Audit.
  • Review and maintenance of the Company Supplier Quality Assurance Manual & SOPs.
  • Lead Technical relationships with regional customers where required.
  • Develop grower auditing schedule based on risk assessment.
  • Manage technical approval of new growers.
  • Review industry certifications for all our growers.
  • Coordinate grower visit schedule with other quality managers.
  • Ensure grower visit reports are completed and submitted to GM.
  • Maintain grower KPI report and review process.
  • Develop Quality Improvement plans with key growers.
  • Identification of new growers and varieties.
  • Ensure the Company specifications are implemented.
  • Create, implement and manage technical KPIs for quality team.
  • Management and coaching of direct reports.
  • Drive improvement in all areas of handling and cold chain.
  • Packaging – Oversight with specific focus on optimising transit solutions and profitability.
  • Perform any other duties as may be required by the business

Qualifications

  • Degree in Horticulture, Agriculture or related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in similar role (Technical Manager, Quality Manager, Auditor).
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in team management.
  • Experience working and communicating directly with customers will be beneficial.
  • Experience with managing a budget will be beneficial.
  • Clean driving license.
  • Fluent in English and Swahili, spoken and written.
  • Experience with relevant certification standards (Global GAP, KFC, Fairtrade, BOPP)
  • Experience with customer specification systems (Muddyboots Greenlight QC) will be beneficial.
